TRIGGER WARNING – Depression, anxiety, paranoia & touch on baby loss
I’ve wanted to talk about MY BIRTH STORY for a while. But I simply haven’t been ready. You may have seen a TikTok post about the dangers of postpartum depression. This subject is something I am passionate about. Because my mental health significantly worsened during pregnancy. Hormones played a huge part in my declining mental well-being.

This blog is all about raising awareness about mental health.
As pregnancy was the catalyst for my decline in mental health, the two subjects for me are interlinked. Therefore, this blog will consist of topics related to both my motherhood and mental health journey.

More about why I started this blog…
On my little comfy corner of the internet, you will find warmth & honesty. A story of me conquering my anxiety and aiming to thrive in all areas of life.
My motivation for starting this blog is to share my story. During an incredibly difficult time in my life: recovering from a breakdown and impending redundancy, writing became my therapy, my outlet, and what I felt compelled to do.
I imagine the readers of this blog as my online support group. All are here to help one another. If my blog posts can help just one person, I have done my job!
You have the power to change your life. Start taking small steps today!
If you rewound my life 20 years & asked whether I would want all the hardships & challenges, I honestly don’t know whether I would take them back. Going through all of these hurdles has made me the resilient person I am today.
I transformed from a literal ball of #anxiety in my daily life, usually hidden away crying in the toilets at work & I put on a mask for everyone. Literally my own parents wouldn’t have known there was an issue. I was great at hiding the pain & suffering. (that’s how I know there are many people suffering with #mentalhealth problems & you would literally never know!)
I am by no means healed, I don’t think anyone walking this earth is. We never stop growing. And we should strive to always evolve into something better. A newer, wiser version of ourselves.
BUT you can start taking small steps towards your goals & change direction whenever you want. I promise it can be done & the other side will be amazing.
For me the other side is confidence, self worth, setting health boundaries, ditching people pleasing, looking out for those closest to me & enjoying life.
From the person who sat crying in the toilets, accepting stressful toxic jobs, pleasing other people, and was literally convinced those closest to me were speaking about someone else, whenever I was given a compliment. Those days are gone!
You have the power to start the journey.
What little thing would you like to change? As your first step… Let me know in the comments…

Thank you for your lovely comment.
I agree that anxiety is not necessarily a mental health problem. It comes and go. Thank you for sharing this awareness.
It definitely comes and goes.
I like how you point out that anxiety is not necessarily a mental health problem unless it interferes with your daily functioning. That is a critical distinction. Even if I experience anxiety at times and in certain situations, it does not necessarily imply that I cannot live the life I desire. Excellent post!
I like that you point out that having anxiety is not necessarily a mental health problem until it interferes in some way with the functioning of your life. That is an important distinction. Just because I experience anxiety at times and in certain situations, it can still mean that I can live the life I want. Great post!
Thank you and I totally agree the distinction is important.
I enjoy watching TikTok videos and Instagram reels. As a dance teacher, I am inspired by people who really know that the essence of all art is to try to enjoy life and be yourself. You have indeed come a long way in conquering your fears, Sam. Bravo!
Thank you so much. I enjoy watching it too. My toddler helps me enjoy life & be myself 🙂
