I took part in the blogtober challenge last year. It was an extremely busy month, but I also managed to release a lot of blog posts, which massively helped my engagement.
In October 2021, my blog was only three months old and therefore I was still in the growing phase.
The post will outline how the challenge can help you engage more with other bloggers. Therefore increasing page views and how many people view your writing.
Halloween is my favourite time of year and I secretly spend the summer waiting for a scary Halloween party and some spooky fun!
What is blogtober challenge?
Blogtober is an annual event held every October. It involves posting one blog per day, every day of the month. Because I was brand new to blogging when the blogtober challenge came up last year, I only made it part way through. However, I was proud of the progress I made.
As you can see from the archive on my website –
October 2021 is still the month in which I released the most blog posts. And I managed to release some pretty important content:
The type of content you release
it is completely up to you whether to have a Halloween-related theme or use this month to talk about a range of subjects on your blog. You will see from the posts above, I did a bit of both. It was also Mental Health Awareness Week, which I believe is a great time to raise awareness of the issues I discuss on my blog.
How to get involved
You can get involved by searching the blogtober hashtag on Twitter. If you are part of the blogging community, get involved with fellow bloggers. You could participate in a blogging tag, and nominate other bloggers to join in. It really is a fun month and I cannot wait for it to come around again.
Your blog is amazing. Mine is all fictional stories and I struggle to get 2-4 out a month. However, I got some ideas for in-between blog posts here to perhaps increase without having to create more fictional content. Thanks so much! ✌️
Thank you. I have worked so hard on it. But it doesn’t feel like work, because I love writing.
You could put out much shorter blogs in the meantime and maybe have a separate section.
I think I am gonna do blogtober too. I’ve been blogging since 2014 this is my 4th blog and it’s still fairly new it isn’t one yet so I think I’m gonna join this challenge and challenge myself to see how well I can do, as I have been slacking on posting lately.
Good luck with the challenge! It’s a good way to get a lot of content out there.
Can’t wait to read your content.
I didn’t know this was a thing, so thank you for sharing all the information about it! I’ve just came back from a little break from blogging, so this might be the perfect time to get back into it!

Glad you found the post useful. Welcome back and can’t wait to read you content x
I love the idea of Blogtober but I don’t think I’ll have time to participate with university in full swing! Looking forward to checking out your posts though x
I can totally understand. My uni days were a constant balancing act.
I don’t know if I will be taking part – I may do it in my own way, but I won’t be posting every day.
I’ll def be following along to your blogtober. I won’t be participating but I’ll still be posting tons of fall / Halloween content. I completed blogtober last year and it was fun but it was also a lot of work! props to you for participating again.
It is a lot of work. I will be participating, but I will think of a creative way to not post each day. Last year I tried doing Monday-Friday only.
This is a great idea!! I dont’ honestly know if I would have or take the time since blogging is not my full time but I love the idea of increasing engagement that’s so important~! 🙂 Sounds like you had so many good articles too!
It is a lot of work, but I’m still proud of the writing I did during that month last year.
Currently thinking up ideas for how I will take part this year.
I had no idea about blogtober thanks for putting this on my radar I will definitely join in with this. 🎃
I am so happy you found out about it. Another blogger mentioning it on Twitter last year was how I found out.
Thank you for sharing about blogtober. I love your reflection on last year and was so insightful. Hopefully, we can participate this year.
I hope you can. It was really lovely to go back over the first lot of writing I did, that I really loved. Hard-hitting mental health stuff, but that was where I was in my head last year. It’s the truth.
Ooh I love this! I won’t be participating in Blogtober this year because of where I’ll be in my life but I do plan on posting fall/Halloween content. You should be really proud of how well you did last year! Thank you so much for sharing x
I can’t wait for the Halloween / autumn content. And thank you so much x
I didn’t know this was a thing but I might give it ago. I’m gonna be smack dab in the middle of editing my sequel, so we’ll see. But this is such a cool idea.
I can’t wait to read more of your content. Glad you found out about it from this post!
I didn’t know about Blogtober so thank you for posting about it. I doubt I will take part – currently I can just about manage one post a month! Lol! But it’s something to think about for the future.
I had a quick scroll through the posts you published and I will definitely go back and read them in more detail.
I love blogtober! I rarely join in but I love seeing all the posts other bloggers create for it. I’ll be attempting it too this year – I’m already brainstorming ideas for it! Can’t wait to see what you come up with this year.

It’s such a fun month, but also hectic to keep up with the posts.
I can’t wait to see your ideas 🙂
This makes me want to join in, but I know I’d probably release at least three to four posts per week instead. If I’m going to be part of it I better start doing some planning. Sounds pretty exciting and why not? Thanks for introducing me to it.
Glad you found out about it.
Last year I did Monday-Friday posts. And stopped at a certain point due to mental health. You have to find a posting plan that suits you.
This was a great reflection and review of last year – I need to bookmark this because there are several posts I would like to read, but for now – I have to get back to my day job.
I have played with the blogtober idea, but Halloween isn’t really a thing here (in my generation at least). But you may have changed my mind by proving that it does not have to be all pumpkins and Halloween decorations ideas. I will think about it and we will see 😉
It’s great you have a different perspective now. I thought it had to be Halloween content, but I used it to talk about mental health as well.
Do whatever works best for you. This is why we started our blogs – to be individual and do things our way!
It makes me happy you want to read more of my posts from last year.
