I’ve decided I want to give something back to the blogging community. After winning a wonderful prize from Izzy Matias, and recently winning The Power Of Letters raffle, I know how special you feel when you win something unexpectedly.
The blogging community supported me when I first joined Twitter and genuinely got me through some of my darkest days!

My advertising slots
I began offering advertising slots on my blog in January 2022. The main reason for offering these packages, was because I advertised consistently in my first six months of blogging. My stats show this helped improve my DA score and more importantly, it got my blog noticed, by other more prominent bloggers. Not to mention, I made great connections with these people, which I value to this day.
Whether you win my prize or not, advertising is a great way to connect with other bloggers. It’s one of the lovely parts of blogging and I get excited seeing everyone’s advertisers’ posts at the beginning of the month.

I love a good Christmas gift guide and I am enjoying reading through everyone else’s guides this year. It gets me in the Christmas spirit. But today I wanted to change up the post and write something more personal. It’s time for a cup of tea and a little chat.
A catch-up with my loyal readers and hello to my new ones. I am eternally grateful you’re all here. Simply because the interaction with you has helped me heal from a mental breakdown.
Last month I included a review of my goals in my monthly newsletter. I wanted to keep this exclusively for my subscribers. It’s now time to share a snippet of how October went and share my goals for November and the coming months.
This was the summary and whether I achieved the goals I set out…
I want to smash Blogtober
I am pleased with the progress I made during October and that I was able to decide to stop the challenge and put my mental health first.
Up my game on Pinterest
I have pinned more this month, and it is now easier because I am only releasing three posts each week.
Still lots of work to be done on this topic though.
I am considering buying Pinterest templates as I think this may help. Maybe taking a Pinterest course, because it is something I want to focus on more.
350 blog views by month-end
My blog views are still quite low and I have some strategies I want to try to improve this. Watch this space.
1500 followers on Twitter
I have 1724 followers. Thank you, everyone. Making connections with like-minded people means the world to me!
3500 followers on Instagram
I have 3276 followers, so almost there 🙂
Get my first affiliate sale
I have had an affiliate sale, but have not yet received the commission from it. Very happy with this.
My other wins throughout the month of October
My DA score jumped to 11 and I landed a partnership with a brand I wanted to work with before I set up my blog.
I have also received my first paid partnership!
I am over the moon with these wins because it confirms I was correct to start walking down this path and begin my blogging journey. I am turning my goals into a reality and I couldn’t be happier.
Goals for November
I didn’t set fixed goals for November, but I can give you an update on where I am with the previous goals:
Up my game on Pinterest
I am pinning for every blog post and it is on my to-do list to organise folders and set up pin covers. I have also purchased Pinterest and Instagram branding for my new blog to ensure a consistent approach.
With this blog, I did want it to be colorful and eye-catching. Simply because talking about mental health can be heavy. It was intentional to use vibrant colours and graphics. I want to cheer up my readers and I hope the blog does that.
350 blog views by month-end
I am pleased to report my blog views are slowly increasing daily and I am starting to see organic traffic coming through. The views for the last 30 days are over 400. I am thankful to have now smashed my target.
1500 followers on Twitter
I am now at 1860 followers and thankful for every single one of you! I genuinely enjoy chatting with everyone on Twitter and it never feels like work.
3500 followers on Instagram
Currently at 3277, so still some more work to be done on Insta.
Get my first affiliate sale
I now have three affiliate sales under my belt and it makes me happy. I have also recently bought Neesha’s e-book and I intend to learn everything I need to create passive income for my blogs. More importantly, recommend trusted products and services I use and I think could help others. I honestly love some of the products I’ve recommended recently. Check out my media kit below to find out who I’ve worked with so far.
I set out my goals for the future of the blog in an earlier post.
I am currently working on my e-book. Creating lovely, printable worksheets and planners is also keeping me busy and now I’ve mastered my first one, I love doing them.
The new blog is set up, but in the very early stages at the moment. Keep an eye on social media for announcements of the launch.
What I did on my week off work
On a personal note, I had a week away from work to relax and focus on the blog. As it turned out, reality meant I had a poorly toddler who didn’t attend nursery all week and a sick hubby. Although my week off got hijacked, I dealt with it pretty well and made the best of it. This proves my mindset has changed for the better. The old me would have gone into full meltdown mode and threatened to return to work. That’s what living under the negative pull of toxic anxiety does to you.
I mean, there is always a silver lining. Even under sicky conditions, we had some family time on the sofa to play games and interact with one another. For this I’m thankful.
I did also get some blogging done and I am happy to report I completed the following:
Scheduled posts into January
Wrote all of my gift guides
Created and released my first freebie
Secured some further blogging jobs
Set up my new blog (still, lots to be done)
New blogging schedule reminder
I previously released a new blogging schedule. Just a reminder below about when you will be hearing from me.

Final thoughts
I need to thank each and every one of you. From those who read my blog, comment, interact, send blogging opportunities.
You’ve all helped me achieve my dreams. It may sound corny, but it’s true. Back In May 2021, I was at rock bottom in my life and this blog literally pulled me out of the darkness.
Come and share some of your blogging or life goals with me. I would love to know what you hope to achieve in the future.
I thought it was time to share my mental health-related posts so far.
As I started this blog due to a decline in my mental health and because I wanted to help other people. I thought it was a good time to reflect on the mental health-related topics I have covered so far.
August 2021
I released my first post on 12 August 2021. Obviously, a lot of work went on behind the scenes prior to this date. These were the mental health-related posts I released during August 2021:
I still feel incredibly privileged to be speaking about my journey and receiving feedback about the fact this is helping other people. It makes my heart smile.
I’ve saved some of the amazing feedback I’ve received. The reason for saving it is because I feel overjoyed at the incredible support I’ve received from the blogging community. THANK YOU, FELLOW BLOGGERS.
Wow. Tough topic. Had a discussion on this with my in-law, whose opinion it was that we have to move with the times and get kids as young as 3 savvy to technology. I love your stance on this. Sadly only time will tell how much tech, will affect today’s kids.
Honestly, the Twitter blogging community have kept me going during tough times and I am thankful to be part of such an amazing group of people. Shall we share some more love??
#AD – It’s time for me to look back, at both my personal and professional growth. A reflection period, to help my recovery following a mental breakdown and motivate me to reach my goals for the future.
Personal growth
Because my personal growth is inextricably linked with my professional growth, I have to talk about my situation. Two significant life-changing events happened which caused a ripple effect and improved my life. A mental breakdown and redundancy at work made me want to live my life differently. I would never have started the blog without living through these events.
Professional growth
It’s clear to me now, my career taught me a whole host of transferable skills, all of which are required if you want to be a successful blogger.
I’ve achieved a lot in my three months of blogging and I now intend to up my game and monetise my blog. I had my goals recorded on a spreadsheet before I launched the website and now these goals are becoming reality.
Goals for the future
It’s easy to compare yourself to others in the blogging world. But the truth is no two people are the same. We are individuals and therefore cannot be compared. But of course, it’s healthy to aspire to be successful and view other bloggers as role models for your success.
When I talk about blogging goals, there are certain people I have in mind. If in five years I am as successful as they are, I will be happy. Following this path has increased my confidence and now allows me to read other people’s success stories and believe I can achieve the same level of success. Why not? The old me was full of doubt, but not anymore.
These are the goals I want to reach by the end of 2021
Create and sell digital products
There are so many platforms you can use to create and sell your products. It’s great to see additional features on social media, making it easier to sell. One of the first tasks I had on my to-do list when setting up the blog was to gain followers on social media and interact with other, like-minded people.
I am in the process of writing an e-book. In addition to making money to support the cost of running my blog, I want this product to offer valuable lessons to other people and teach them something. Turning my knowledge and experience into something useful for other people is my ultimate dream.
Worksheets and checklists have helped me get through tough times in life previously. I’ve used them to manage my everyday life and during therapy sessions. I want to create a structured way for other people to benefit from this format.
Learning is a passion of mine. The blogging world is a constant learning curve and I thrive on it. My ultimate goal would be to create a course for other bloggers. To communicate in a format that is easy to understand and teaches them something they wouldn’t have known before embarking on the learning material.
To create any of these products, I will be researching and relying on eCommerce platforms.
Continue to produce relevant, engaging content
The main reason I set up the blog was to get my message out there. I am discussing a subject that is of paramount importance and I hope to change the stigma surrounding mental illness. I, therefore, view it as a duty to keep talking openly and honestly about my mental health struggles. My mission is to help other people.
Work with brands
The brands I’ve worked with so far were aligned with my content and purpose. I enjoyed finding out about the products and recommending them to other people. I hope to continue down this path. And of course, I have a list of brands I would ideally like to work with. Who knows what amazing opportunities will come my way. It’s exciting.
Use my skills to create more opportunities
I am currently looking into setting up a second blog and I am excited to create new challenges for myself.
Using the skills I’ve taught myself recently may also bring future career opportunities. I intend to keep learning.
What will 2022 bring?
The pandemic had a lasting impact on every area of our lives. Marketing messages are no different and the online world became our go-to for everything when we were unable to leave the house.
It’s an exciting time to be a blogger and I genuinely enjoy interacting with brands and other bloggers each day.
Now it’s time to put in the hard work required to achieve my goals.
When starting a blog, self-doubt is real. I’ve lived with self-doubt ruling my daily life for 15 years. It was a daunting prospect to set up something I’ve created and promote it to the world (hopefully ‘the world’ will eventually see what I write).
Because I consider myself the least technology savvy person you could come across, it is a huge achievement I’ve managed to set up and run a blog by myself.
It’s now time to look back at my proudest achievements and future goals for the blog.
1.a thing done successfully with effort, skill, or courage.”to reach this stage is a great achievement”
Continue reading for a rundown of my proudest achievements
Researching
I wasn’t bad at researching, given my essay writing traumas at University. Also, the fact I love finding out new information helps.
Because I literally started this journey by researching late into the night for months, I became great at it. I felt compelled to start a blog. I couldn’t explain why, but something inside me told me I must do it.
Of course, when I googled how to go about doing this, I was directed to Pinterest. It’s how I know all of us bloggers should persevere with our pins. Even though I know it is tedious. Imagine becoming a brand new bloggers source of information. That’s ultimate #blogginggoals.
When I get an idea in my head, I love researching information to support what I’m saying, or highlight there is a lack of information about a particular issue.
Writing
I’ve always loved writing. A lot of my proudest achievements include writing.
However, I honestly believe the more you do something you get better at it. With the help of Grammarly and Yoast, I am now in the flow of how to write and format a blog post.
And other writing opportunities are also coming my way, as a result of me starting the blog.
I honestly think social media made my existing anxiety issues worse in the past. It fed into the negative voice in my head and increased my innate ability to constantly compare myself to others. Because I’m an introvert, I was overwhelmed by seeing everyone’s whole lives playing out online. Even though they were my friends.
Setting up social media accounts for the blog comes with boundaries. Whilst I genuinely love interacting with other people, this is only in relation to the blog. I can take a break or stand back from social media whenever I choose to. It’s exactly what I’m doing if I need to. I also make good use of the block button when it’s required.
Being organised
I thought I was organised before. Blogging literally involves wearing several hats daily. Therefore you have to be organised enough to focus on one task and set realistic deadlines. You are accountable to yourself and therefore you have to meet the deadlines you set, otherwise, you only have yourself to blame.
Technical knowledge
SEO, Google Analytics, keyword research.
You will have heard these terms, but probably don’t understand what they mean (I still struggle with the technical side).
I slowly worked my way through each of these tasks and all the other technical and analytical tools you need. I am proud that I’ve only had to ask for help on a handful of occasions and the rest I have figured out for myself. There is always a useful blog post or YouTube video to provide vital information for the task at hand.
Working solo
I loved working from home during the pandemic and I would love to do this full time from now on. I am a homely person by nature and being close to my little one and nursery is helpful. Cutting out traveling time is a huge bonus.
Because you are at home, you have to stay motivated. Luckily I am a very self-driven and organised person. Therefore working solo suits me.
New projects
My proudest achievements have probably been managing several new projects at once.
From August to October 2021, I submitted four guest posts to other bloggers. I was asked to write for a charity anthology. I also produced three adverts for brands. This was in addition to posting on my blog and completing two weeks of blogtober.
I will now be moving on to my future projects, which involve more work and can be time-consuming. I am confident it will all be worth it in the end though.
Watch this space.
Ranking
For a while, I thought ranking on Google was a myth. You look at the stats and think how can this be a thing, nobody is viewing my blog. Then one day it happens.
It happened to me following a weekend away with family. I was feeling deflated. I had writer’s block and my confidence was lacking slightly. I checked my DA score in the bar on holiday and it was 9. I was over the moon. It was a pivotal moment where I felt my hard work had paid off.
DA is at 9! Wooooooo hooooooooooo! Can’t quite believe it. But I have worked my back side off since 12 August!! 👍
Armed with this new information (thanks to Google), I was excited to start the big projects in my goal planner. It was a proven fact that hard work pays off. Therefore, my logic told me more hard work was required.
Improving design and photography skills
When I first started blogging, I thought I would use Canva and that would be the end of it. However, there is no avoiding the fact you will be required to take some photographs. I am learning as I go along. Luckily, my hubby has a professional camera and an eye for a great image. He is helping me with the photos and teaching me. Still lots of work to be done on my photography skills. Hopefully, this goal will factor in a future list of my proudest achievements.
Final thoughts
Who knows where this blogging journey will take me next. It’s great to look back at what I’ve achieved.
Let me know in the comments what you are proud of? What have you achieved lately? What are your personal and professional goals?
I recently decided to stop the blogtober challenge. However, I wanted to look back at the posts I created, published, and promoted.
Following the blogtober challenge, I am particularly proud of the mental health-related topics I released. I will be honest and confess I was unsure about releasing some of them. But I decided to be brutally honest and share the reality of mental illness. I hope it helps other people.
Here is a summary of the posts I released during the challenge
My final post of the blogtober challenge
To everyone still taking part
You can do this!
I enjoy reading your daily posts.
It’s the final week of October 2021 – you got this 🙂
Reflecting on the goals I’ve achieved this month
To add some context regarding my blogging journey so far, I released my first post on 12 August 2021.
I found my feet in September 2021 and worked very hard to spread the word about my blog. I then decided to turn my half-written blog posts into the blogtober challenge.
The challenge meant I was busy. It was fast-paced and involved a lot of late nights and early mornings. However, it taught me I am able to maintain quality but also keep up with my goals. It just involves hard work and determination.
All the lovely comments and feedback on my posts have spurred me on to continue to ensure my blog thrives. I am now ready to tackle some of the other goals I have and work on bigger projects. I am also starting to see the results of my hard work.
I now have confidence I am able to break down the next project into manageable sections and complete it.
Final thoughts…
I hope you’re all having a wonderful October.
This time of year is so magical. Cold weather setting in, Halloween fun, and the lead-up to Christmas.
After the constraints we’ve faced over the past few years, I wish you all the fun this season has to offer.
Let me know what you have planned in the comments below.
I know I’ve evolved – what an amazing statement. What’s better is a really mean it!
Friends, I’ve made the executive decision to end my participation in #blogtober. It’s the best thing for me.
I’ve been feeling a bit flat lately, deflated, and not sure why. The old me would never have recognised it needed to happen. I would have carried on regardless and ticked off another superwoman task on my endless, unachievable list.
However, the new me is all about a manageable to-do list and living life to the full.
My reasons for ending the challenge
Well. Firstly I’m exhausted. I am sure my fellow bloggers who are taking part in Blogtober are feeling the same. I want to say a huge well done to anyone who is still going. Along with the bloggers who didn’t take part, well because blogging is the hardest work I’ve probably ever done. But I love it.
When I first started this challenge, I had enough content and I still have endless ideas recorded and blog posts partly written. But I reached a point where I’m just not feeling it. I am not happy with the posts I still need to finalise and I think I am experiencing burnout or the beginning of it. Something is missing and dare I say it, I think I may have writer’s block. Maybe more writers exhaustion. I need a break and luckily I am on another mini holiday at the point this post is being published. Cheers to that!
Perspective and starting my fixed blogging schedule
I’ve achieved so much in my short time blogging, but I was planning to release a fixed blogging schedule and try and plan as far in advance as I can. I am going to reorganise some posts and start the below schedule from Monday 18th October 2021.
Because I’m all about self-care, taking mental health breaks, and generally avoiding ever experiencing a mental breakdown again, it’s something I must do.
I know I’ve evolved because I feel differently now. But I will be honest and say before Blogtober began, I had thoughts about looking weak if I gave up. I also wondered what other people would think. Those toxic anxiety thoughts are creeping back in, but I’m not going to let them. I’ve challenged myself by completing two weeks of this amazing challenge and now it’s time to get organised. From now on, I have the blog to focus on, alongside working and I need to plan ahead.
Final thoughts
Hey, did I just write a blog post after releasing some pressure on myself after totally giving myself a break? It works.
Here’s to all you amazing bloggers for putting out amazing content each week. I can’t wait to keep reading your work and interacting with you. I can’t help but smile when I reply to comments and read your creations.
I’ve always loved learning. I got excited about my university lectures and even take online courses to this day. I realise some people are not built like this, but I am that type of person. I thrive on learning something new. And my passion for learning certainly helps me become a better blogger.

Before watching a film, I ask myself, will it teach me something, will it be a waste of my life? Yes, I’m that person and the hubby & I spend more time deliberating on which film to watch, rather than actually watching. He finds it incredibly annoying!
The same theme runs throughout my life. What can I learn or gain from using this time? This is why I feel like I fit in perfectly in the blogging world. You can read more about the benefits of learning here.
Making connections with other bloggers
Becoming a better blogger means being part of a community. For those who don’t know, the blogging community is amazing, welcoming, supportive, always willing to help one another. I’m gaining more value than I ever would have at a face-to-face support group. Mainly because I can easily connect with others around the world, not just confined to my local area.
I look forward to interacting with these people on a daily basis. It isn’t hard work to me, it’s learning, growing, and collectively working towards a goal. My goal is to raise awareness of mental health issues and helping parents hopefully avoid the mental struggles I had to endure.
Here is a list of why soaking up information helps my creative process:
Reading
I am literally that person who used to highlight my books at university. I still have copies of the ones I studied with bookmarks & post it’s all over them. Keeping them and looking back reminds me of how much I learned. To me, the notations, the post-it’s, those beautiful colours, equals new information. This post explains my love of all things stationery.
Who used to buy second-hand books from Amazon? I was particularly excited when one arrived with other people’s notations. My mind would run wild: what could this previous owner teach me? What did they gain from reading this? Is there something I haven’t already thought about myself?
Online courses
Here is a list of the courses I regularly take:
Eventbrite – they have free online workshops and if you miss the actual event, they email you the details so you can soak up the information at a later date
Centre Of Excellence – a range of cheap courses, particularly in areas of self-care and mindfulness
Daily OM – The beauty of their courses is you can choose an amount to pay. This makes learning affordable for you. The courses are also easy to navigate and interesting to work through
Future Learn – a range of courses in a wide range of subjects (some are free)
OpenLearn – this is one I haven’t yet tried, but I have it saved in my favourites. If anyone has done their courses, let me know below
Blogging courses
I am now at the point where I want to take some courses other bloggers have put together, to become a better blogger. It’s true that the best resource really is other bloggers. People who’ve experienced the same problems, worries as you. They are of course best placed to pass on their knowledge.
It will probably be around November time when I start my learning journey. Watch this space as I will be recommending some I have taken myself.
Podcasts
I’d heard of podcasts and during the period of working from home, colleagues told me they listened to them. I always just thought, no I wouldn’t be able to concentrate on two things at once. That is still true. My learning brain needs to pay full attention to the information at hand.
Therefore, I now reserve podcast time for the bath or sitting in the park on a bench. Concentration music is needed when I’m blogging or writing.
Reading other blog posts
We are all unique in our own way and what I love about the blogging community is there is no competition. Bloggers frequently share ideas for post titles, we contribute to each other’s posts, provide ideas, help out, guest post.
This being the case, reading someone else’s view on something can sometimes make you think, yeah I like that subject and this is how I would write about this particular topic. Maybe I know about it and should write about it for others to read.
This aids your own creative process and I genuinely smile when I read other people’s work.
Commenting on other people’s blogs
Whilst I usually let the comments on my blog build up and become a little overwhelmed at having to reply to 30 in one sitting, I honestly love the process whilst I’m doing it.
Replying to comments from fellow bloggers not only makes me feel warm inside and confirms I am on the right path in starting the blog, but I also learn something new about myself each time I respond. I wrote the original blog post and it’s unique to me. When replying to comments, I find myself giving away more information, stating something I maybe didn’t realise about myself. It’s a great process.
One of the goals on my spreadsheet is to collate my comment replies and use them as a basis for another blog post, something useful. Yet to be decided.
Final thoughts
As human beings, we are all learning and evolving constantly. If you’re not actively doing this, you’re static and it isn’t a great place to be in. I feel alive doing what I love each day and intend to keep blogging despite any setbacks I may face.
How are you becoming a better blogger? Or a better version of yourself through learning.
I would love to hear from you in the comments below.
Welcome along to my first round-up post! It’s a little late, as we are a few days into October, but I still wanted to reflect on the previous month and set my goals for October.
My personal progress
I’ve been through a lot in my personal life over the course of starting the blog and definitely had an interesting journey with my mental health. A lot of bumps in the road. You can read more about my mental health struggles here.
How it all began
I released my first blog post on 12 August 2021. Prior to this, there was a lot of research, writing, and quickly learning a lot of technical elements, which isn’t my strong point. I am proud of how far I’ve come in less than two months and it’s time to acknowledge my first full calendar month of blogging.
September 2021 blog posts
It wouldn’t be a round-up post without a look back at last month. I release 7 posts in total, which I am proud of.
l released this post on 2 September 2021 and I loved writing it! It made me excited for everything this spooky season has to offer.
This post was released on 5 September 2021 and it is one I will personally always refer back to. Because I love everything about autumn.
I released this post on 8 September 2021 in the lead-up to our holiday, because I was excited about it. Some context here, about four months ago due to my breakdown, I couldn’t even talk about booking a holiday, let alone become excited. Writing this was a huge step in my recovery.
This post was released on 12 September 2021 and I felt compelled to share my experiences, in the hope of helping others.
This post was released on 14 September 2021 and I was honoured to write about such an amazing newsletter.
This post was released on 19 September 2021 and it was a huge step in my recovery to start thinking about gratitude.
This post was released on 24 September 2021 and it signified a change in me. Once you reach a certain point in your mental health journey, I feel there is no going back.
Goals for October 2021
This is my first time setting goals! Then a round-up post to follow on the final weekend of the month. Read more here about why goal setting is important.
#Blogtober
I want to smash Blogtober and use this time to start other projects I want to work on. My main goal is to keep up with comments and how fast-paced it is.
Up my game on Pinterest
I have started pinning several different pictures for each blog post and I am hoping this will help.
350 blog views by month end
Based on my current stats this should be achievable.

Reach 1500 followers on Twitter.
Instagram
Reach 3500 followers on Instagram and start using reels & stories more.
